Welcome to our school!
Greatfields Primary School is a small mixed community school which is based in Barking within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. We are fortunate to be housed in a fabulous modern building which boasts large class rooms that provide a clean and spacious environment for our children to learn in. We pride ourselves on providing a caring and friendly atmosphere associated with smaller schools. Your child’s time at Greatfields Primary School is very precious and we are pleased that we are able to share this with you. We provide a curriculum that acknowledges the importance of the basic skills, but endeavours to teach those skills in an exciting way, as well as finding time to focus on more creative and artistic skills and making sure that we enjoy what we learn, using our local and wider environments and opportunities to support this.
School Day
Drop off time: Gates open at 8.35am and close at 8.45am. Should your child arrive late for school they will need to be taken to the main reception.
Collection time: Gates open at 3.15pm and close at 3.25pm. Should you arrive late when collecting your child you will need to go to the main reception.
Olive – School Catering
Olive Dining are delighted to be the new catering provider for your school.
Olive are passionate and committed in providing the most nutritious and delicious school meals. Our
food is always freshly prepared on site, using the highest quality ingredients.
We offer exciting and innovative menus which run in 3-weekly cycles, each of which contain a variety
of hot dishes with different concepts. Our cold deli bar also offers plenty of delicious, fresh salad
options with a selection of freshly filled sandwiches and baguettes.
We have a dedicated onsite catering team who are skilled and trained in creating all our menus and
dishes.
We also have several fun theme days for students to enjoy which run throughout the school
academic year.

Free School Meals

Chestnut Nursery at Greatfields
Chestnut Nursery at Greatfields, our newest nursery, opened in January 2025, offers high-quality childcare and early years education for children from 3 months of age. Located within the grounds of Greatfields Primary School, our modern and spacious setting features two dedicated classrooms: the Jay and Wren Rooms for children aged 0-2 years, and the Robin Room for Pre-school children. These rooms are complemented by a shared garden, all fully equipped with new resources and units designed to support children’s exploration and learning across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
